WHO CAN APPLY?

This CT course is designed for actively registered or certified imaging professionals and is not an entry-level program. To qualify, you must hold a current credential in good standing as an ARRT Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)), an ARRT Radiation Therapist (R.T.(T)), or an NMTCB-certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist; sonography, MRI, or vascular sonography credentials alone do not qualify. Before applying, you should also have employment or an established clinical affiliation with a facility that performs CT exams, permission from your employer, manager, or clinical supervisor to participate in CT clinical training, and access to qualified clinical personnel who can verify the clinical experience required for your certification pathway. Please contact Admissions before applying to confirm your eligibility, enrollment availability in your state, and the clinical-site information needed for your application.

Course Outline

The course is organized into nine instructional modules that build a focused foundation in CT, covering physics, patient care, radiation safety, and cross-sectional anatomy. Each module ends with an examination.

Modules

  1. Operations & System Components
  2. Image Formation
  3. Image Evaluation
  4. Radiation Safety & Dose Optimization
  5. Patient Care
  6. Contrast Administration
  7. Imaging Informatics & Radiology Network
  8. CT Procedures & Anatomy (Part A: head, neck, spine, and musculoskeletal; Part B: chest, abdomen, and pelvis)
  9. CT Artifacts & Image Optimization

Registry Preparation
Two mock registry exams of 165 questions each are included for practice and self-assessment. They are not graded course requirements, are separate from the required module exams, and may be taken an unlimited number of times.

Schedule of INstruction

The course is delivered online through Moodle and is entirely self-paced, with no fixed class meeting times. You may work through the modules and exams at your own pace within your course completion window. Please confirm your access start date and completion deadline with Admissions before signing your enrollment agreement, and contact the Course Administrator promptly if circumstances may affect your ability to finish.

Completion Requirements
To successfully complete the course, you must finish all nine instructional modules and pass each required module examination. Refer to your course syllabus for passing scores, attempt limits, and progression requirements. The two mock registry exams are for practice only and do not affect your course grade or eligibility for the certificate of completion.

Schedule

All SUI programs utilize a blended method of instruction combining online and in-person learning. This instructional model incorporates online synchronous and asynchronous coursework with in-person laboratory training and clinical externships. Schedules vary by program and by course and will continue to vary throughout the didactic and clinical phases of education.

Specific course schedules are provided to students upon admission. During the didactic portion of the program, on-campus, in-person laboratory training is generally scheduled between 8:00AM and 3:00PM, Monday through Thursday. The specific day(s) of the week may vary or rotate depending on the course and the academic quarter.
Once students enter the clinical portion of the program, they are expected to maintain open availability. Clinical sites determine student schedules to ensure completion of the required clinical hours and competencies. Students are typically assigned a full-time weekly schedule, which may include day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, depending on the needs of the clinical site.

Program schedules may vary by program and course and may change throughout the didactic and clinical phases of the program. The institution reserves the right to modify schedules, instructional delivery methods, clinical assignments, and training locations to meet program requirements, accreditation standards, and clinical partner availability.

Continuing Education Credit & Certificate

This course is approved by the ASRT for 25.25 Category A continuing education credits. It provides continuing education credit only and does not lead to an academic credential, degree, or diploma.

Earning Your Credits

  1. Complete: Finish all nine instructional modules and pass each required module examination.
  2. Verify: Contact the Course Administrator to verify completion. SUI will then issue a certificate of completion reflecting the credits earned.
  3. Report: Record your credits in your ARRT account and confirm your individual documentation requirements and reporting deadlines.

Please note: A course certificate is not CT certification. You are responsible for meeting all eligibility, clinical experience, documentation, and examination requirements. Completing this course does not guarantee certification, licensure, or employment.

Clinical experience

Clinical experience is a separate requirement of the ARRT CT certification pathway. It is not part of this 100% online continuing education course and is not a condition of earning the 25.25 Category A credits. Participants are responsible for completing and documenting the clinical experience required for their pathway, and all clinical activities must follow the requirements and supervision arrangements of the healthcare facility where they take place.

Before enrolling: Confirm your access to an appropriate clinical setting and the documentation required for your certification pathway. Direct any questions about the scope of SUI’s involvement to Admissions.
